We always complain about the lack of innovation in the smartphone sector, we often see device copy and paste between them and therefore the WOW effect seems to have to go to rest. Yet if you think about it, smartphone manufacturers have recently managed to impress with ideas from the past. There is no denying the similarity of Samsung's Fold with the old Nokia Communicator or the same Motorola that has literally reinterpreted its Razr in a modern key and a design that winks at vintage.
OPPO, which will shortly present its Find X2, heiress of the first generation of concept phones that has decreed the true birth of smartphones without frames and full screen, could be on the same road. But if there are no lines of innovation for the future flagship, for the future the Chinese company could reserve us exciting new surprises thanks to a patent that reinterprets the category of smartphones with sliders.

A patent reveals OPPO's intention to release a smartphone with a slider
Unfortunately, as we well know, patents do not always go through, as they often involve imaginative solutions of difficult realization, but this time the idea is feasible as it has already been followed by other manufacturers, such as Xiaomi with its Mi Mix 3 / 5G. In fact, in the photos of the sketches of the patent, we see a sliding body, with different designs that all refer to a single sliding mechanism that should allow the selfie camera to come out.

I don't know about you, the idea of a sliding smartphone intrigues me and I would be happy to see the OPPO patents go through. Even the designs proposed for the rest, with oblique, wave, zigzag lines etc .. have their own charm that could give further premium sense to a display without interruptions. But perhaps this patent will never see birth given that companies are focusing on cameras integrated in the display.
