OPPO VOOC Charge manager confirms: 40W wireless charging coming this year

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Oppo, is perhaps the company that most of all seems to have focused on innovation for the fast charging sector on smartphones. In fact, in October 2019 the brand presented the Oppo Reno Ace with SuperVOOC Flash Charge fast charge with a maximum power of 65W, which still dominates the market today as regards cable charging.

The recharge with 65W power was then also brought to the flagship of the sub-brand Realme, the latest Realme X50 Pro, with the name of SuperDart; once again confirming Oppo's supremacy in this field.

Well, apparently the Chinese manufacturer now intends to master wireless charging too. The team manager working on the VOOC Flash Charge by Oppo, Zhang Jialiang JEFF, would have stated on Weibo, the Chinese Twitter, that: "Talking to my colleagues in the VOOC Flash Charge team we came to the conclusion that it will be possible to market 40W wireless charging on our products by the end of the 'year".

A somewhat bold statement by Zhang Jialiang JEFF, but who better than he can know in what state Oppo's fast charging technology is located?

At the moment, smartphones with faster wireless charging are Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro with 30W power and the newly announced Huawei P40 Pro which not surprisingly can be recharged wirelessly to 40W. So it is quite obvious that Zhang Jialiang JEFF's post is somehow a response to Huawei's announcement today.

In any case, the manager has not communicated on which device we could see the new ultra-fast wireless charging technology. Having said that, the now next Oppo Reno Ace 2 that we have seen appearing here and there in recent weeks could be the chosen one. In fact, the smartphone should always arrive with the SuperVOOC recharge at 65W and why not, maybe even the wireless one at 40W?
