OPPO Reno4 Pro Global presented with 90Hz AMOLED screen and 65W recharge

As we anticipated in the article regarding the launch of the OPPO Reno4 Global, its Pro version was also presented today. The new device sees an improvement in performance compared to its predecessor, the Reno3 Pro, particularly in the chipset, screen, camera and battery; let's find out more!

OPPO Reno4 Pro Global

Let's start with the screen, which on the OPPO Reno4 Pro is a 3 ”Super AMOLED E6,5 panel with a resolution of 1.080 x 2.400 px, coupled with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz . The display is also super bright, in fact it manages to reach a peak of brightness of 1.100 nits. Also on the screen there is an integrated fingerprint reader and we are certified for streaming 1080p content from Netflix, as well as support for Dolby Atmos audio.

In terms of design, the display is surrounded by two curved side edges with a curvature of 55,9 degrees. This gives the impression of thin side frames and helps to achieve a 92% screen-to-body ratio. In general, the smartphone cannot be considered compact with a 6,5-inch screen, but it is quite thin at only 7,7 mm thick and weighs only 161 grams.

On the back we find a quadruple camera, which is one of the main differences from both the Reno3 Pro and the Chinese version of the Reno4 Pro. The 2x telephoto lens has been abandoned and instead there is a B&W module (black and white) from 2 MP (almost to be able to say to have four sensors in total).

As for the main camera, this uses a 48MP and 1/2 "sensor (the Sony IMX586) while the Reno3 Pro adopted a larger 64 / 1" 1,72MP sensor. Either way, both the rear camera and the 32MP selfie camera have dedicated night modes, electronic video stabilization, and some creative modes for portraits.

The smartphone dedicated to photography can take photos with the rear camera in almost total darkness, up to a minimum of 1 lux of ambient light. For videos, it features Ultra Steady video stabilization, but if you want to use a wider view, the ultra wide camera also offers an Ultra Steady mode. By the way, the ultra wide lens has an 8MP sensor, while the fourth and final camera on the back is a 2MP macro.

To power the Reno4 Pro we find the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G of the non-Pro brother. Oppo says that compared to the Helio P95 that powered the Reno3 Pro, the Qualcomm 8nm chip has a 46% more performing single core and multi-core performance by 22% higher (based on Geekbench scores), the GPU is 40% faster (GFXBench Manhattan).

Having said that, it is not as performing as the Snapdragon 765G found on the Chinese Reno4 Pro. In addition, some models of the "Reno3 Pro" also rely on the Snapdragon 765G (although they have a slightly different camera configuration than Helio-based models). So it could almost be seen as a step backwards.

In any case, the chipset is associated with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage space. While a new cooling system that combines a graphite tube, a graphite sheet and a copper sheet, should slightly improve performance.

The OPPO Reno4 Pro equips a 4.000 mAh battery and supports SuperVOOC 2.0 which allows you to recharge with a power of up to 65 W. We can therefore get a full charge in just 36 minutes. OPPO gives as an example the fact that 5 minutes of charging are enough to watch four consecutive hours of YouTube videos.

Finally, the OPPO Reno4 Pro in Global version will be launched in two colors: Starry Night and Silky White. Both have a matte finish that reduces fingerprint marks, as well as reflections. For prices, the 8GB / 128GB version of the Reno4 Pro will be available in India from August 5 for 34.990 INR (€ 390). Availability and prices for other markets will be revealed later.
