A week ago our beloved brand Oppo ha presented in China the latest release of the operating system ColorOS 7. Today, the same UI has been presented in English in India but some news has been communicated about its capabilities and features. Manager Volk was the first to attend the conference and announced all the OS news in detail. We would like to emphasize that not all the features presented will be available immediately: he himself admitted that some features are still receiving the latest "polishing". To allow all users to have a fluid and complete experience, the brand still needs some time. In any case we show you what are all the features that we will see on ColorOS 7 soon.
ColorOS 7 presented in India: here are all the news in detail
The Oppo manager was keen to point out lcommitment of researchers in the development of this seventh release and we can only be proud and grateful for it. This development moved, first of all, starting from the comments of the partners and users who had access to the early beta of the operating system. Starting from there, the brand focused on what they called "Lightweight design".
Design
What the brand focused on is all based on user experience: Oppo wanted to create aultra light and fast experience. To do this she had to concentrate mainly on icon designs that closely resemble those of Google. Just about them, it will be possible change its size and shape, being created on a three storey. These three plans will allow us to act on their size to customize them as we want.
Not only have the icons received an upgrade but also i wallpaper, considering that with ColorOS they will change over time. You got it right: it will be possible choose "animated" wallpapers that will change with time. So if we have chosen a beautiful landscape, this will change from morning to evening according to the time, going from a background with a bright sky to one with a starry sky.
Even the sounds have been improved in the same perspective. What the developers wanted to achieve with ColorOS 7 is a adaptation to the user's life and a sensory experience. Too many times we have to choose notifications or alarm sounds that we don't like, but with ColorOS 7 it will be possible to adapt the alarm or its notifications to the time. This means that, through the appropriate option, the sound of the early morning alarm will not be the same as the afternoon nap: in the first case it will wake us up much more "gently" while in the second case, since it is a quick nap, we will be woken up in a more "determined" way. An absolutely new and revolutionary feature is Oppo Relax.
Thanks to Oppo x epic sound, it will be possible to use this interesting feature that allows you to have relaxing sounds for a certain period of time. A similar thing is possible thanks to a third-party app called A. If we have some free time and we want to relax with the quiet sound of the forest (forgive the rhetorical figure), we can do it by selecting the right mode. This feature though will not be available immediately as still in development, but from next year.
User experience
As we already mentioned in the last article, the user experience is clearly better than the ColorOS 6. The overall infrastructure of the system has been changed but without making too radical changes that can affect the use. In particular, the way to switch from one card to another has been simplified thanks to “Modal Pages".
Thanks to this feature it will be possible to have a sort of multitasking but not in the background, but open on the home page. If necessary we can then work on the same work surface but having multiple overlapping tabs open, as a sort of double space. This feature is very useful if we have to do a job that requires you to write and text at the same time: instead of opening multitasking to switch between apps, this way you will simply need to tap on the open tab under what we are using.
The mode three-finger schreenshot has been modified and enhanced. While before it was only possible to capture a photo on the display, now we can add what we can call "fast tasks". In particular it will be possible immediately work on the photo (in the case of photo editing or sel long screenshot) but above all it will be possible to select a chosen part of the display by making a long tap with three fingers. What does it mean? That if we want to select and capture only a portion of a particular screen, we could immediately select it by making a long tap and scrolling to the desired point.
All day comfort Dark Mode
Oppo has also entered a new mode that will go to replace the simple Dark Mode. It too is a system but will allow, like the other features, to adapt everything to the natural world: it means that this too, like the sounds, will be moldable by time and darker when needed. A novelty at the system level is that it will be also applicable to third-party apps, although these still do not support dark mode. All this brought a 38% decrease in battery consumption compared to before.
Animations and themes
The animations have also been revised and improved. In particular thanks to Quantum Technology it will be possible to extend them even when recharging. In general these will be a lot more fluid and "animated" compared to normal thanks to this technology. A special surprise for users: thanks to “Universal Theme"It will be possible not only to personalize but also toupload your own themes and make them available to other users. One thing that comforts us: everything will be free and not paid as announced a few days ago.
Software
On the software side we will have some beautiful news. Without going into too much detail, there are four points on which Oppo has focused:
- cache preload: the startup time of the applications and the switch between them will be 25% faster than ColorOS 6, as fast RAM memory management has been improved. All this translates into fewer shots and lag;
- CPU scheduling mechanism: the renewed CPU management thanks to oSense guarantees a touch response speed greater than 19% than before;
- priority management: the system, thanks to OMEM, will be able to learn which applications are most used and the most useful services and will make them more fluid to use. Startup time will also be improved;
- anti-aging solution: we can say goodbye to planned obsolescence. The development team created software for the automatic system defragmentation, thus leading to an aging of the system and smartphone much slower than normal.
Photography
Last but not least is photography. The new algorithms developed by the team have led to an artificial intelligence upgrade that is become 2.0. In fact, the ultra dark mode for the shots: this means that the photographs taken in the dark have improved and a proof is this shot.
The new algorithms were developed together with Google and for this it was given as a name to the new technology Oppo Camera, in partnership with Big G. In any case, below you will find the full video of the presentation.
